Who Are We?

Straight Outta Sheffield

Straight Outta Sheffield formed in 2014, as four lads from Sheffield who all worked at the same company were sat on an especially quiet nightshift in the autumn. The systems weren't working, and with secondary duties now completed ((the office was spotless!) there was no more work to do. As such we began sharing a few of our favourite clips on Youtube, and for whatever reason, a video from a Tough Mudder event entered the fray, and we were hooked.

At some later point, for some unknown reason, one of us (I still maintain that it was Zahir, a fact he may now have agree with) suggested that we should sign up. I awoke one evening prior to a nightshift with flashing icons left right and centre from Facebook, Whatsapp, and SMS alerts. Apparently, we were doing this.

Entry fee paid under the a hilarious team name evoking our incarceration at work, and an agreement to run for Works's 2015 charity of the Year, Macmillan, and we were off and running (quite literally).

I was never much into my fitness.  At school I used to visit the school's multigym twice a week after classes with friends, but as much as anything else this was a social occasion, and we didn't really know what we were doing.  We'd put away a litre of energy drink each time, and if you'd mentioned a two day split, you'd have got the kind of blank expression that you'd expect in my French class.

I've had a number of false dawns, but gearing up for Tough Mudder was going to be most difficult thing I'd done since I set of on my charity Walk to Lille back in 2013 (Which sadly I had to pull out of due to an ankle injury.
